Reports To: HS Principal and Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education Responsibilities:The Coordinator of CTE and Student Workforce Development is responsible for managing and expanding Career and Technical Education and work-based learning (WBL) opportunities for Brentwood students. This individual will lead the implementation of student workforce pathways and oversee the Cooperative Education Program, ensuring alignment with local labor market needs and New York State standards.A central focus of this role is to support the District’s Graduation Plus+ initiative by ensuring that every student has access to meaningful college and career preparation — including opportunities to earn college credit, obtain certifications or credentials, and participate in career-connected learning.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:The Coordinator will: Support and promote the District’s Graduation Plus+ vision by aligning CTE and workforce development opportunities with college, career, and credentialing pathways.Collaborate with stakeholders on all aspects of CTE pathways within the Business Department, including reviewing and monitoring student academic progress.Develop, expand, and supervise a robust Cooperative Education Program, including job shadowing, internships, paid and unpaid work experiences, and apprenticeships.Coordinate and oversee year-round WBL opportunities and the summer work program in collaboration with the Suffolk County Department of Labor and local business partners.Recruit and maintain partnerships with businesses and community organizations to secure quality WBL experiences for students.Ensure all work-based programs comply with NYS and federal labor laws, OSHA regulations, and student safety protocols.Collaborate with the Coordinator of Math and Business and other department leaders to align CTE and business initiatives across disciplines.Work closely with the Transition Coordinator to track and document hours toward the CDOS Commencement Credential.Assist in screening, interviewing, and selecting qualified students for WBL programs and provide input on hiring qualified Business educators.Organize and maintain accurate documentation, including program budgets, time sheets, reports, and student records.Utilize data to evaluate program effectiveness and guide continuous improvement efforts in alignment with district goals.Promote equity by ensuring all students — including English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged students — have access to CTE and workforce development opportunities.Engage families and community stakeholders to increase awareness and participation in CTE and Graduation Plus+ programs.Develop marketing and outreach materials to promote program offerings and student success stories.Additional Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to): Assist the building principal with observations within the Business Department.Assist in the oversight of Business course enrollment processes and support academic planning.Organize and lead department meetings to foster professional collaboration and instructional improvement.Collaborate with fellow department chairs and administrators on cross-disciplinary and schoolwide initiatives.Participate in the hiring, evaluation, and supervision of Business Department staff.Support compliance with all NYSED and NYS-mandated reporting requirements.Represent and advocate for Brentwood’s Business and CTE programs at conferences, community events, and industry forums.
