Coordinator of Health, Recreation, K-12 Physical Education & Athletics(Previous candidates need not to reapply) Job Summary:To work closely with appropriate area Assistant Superintendents in carrying out the responsibilities of the position. Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education, Programs & Policy, and Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education. Minimum Requirements: Must hold appropriate NYS Administrative Certification (SDA or SDL) NYS Physical Education certification Minimum of 5 years total of successful public-school teaching in Physical Education and/or Health; Coaching experience Additional requirements, skill & competencies include, but are not limited to: Supervise K-12 Health, K-12 Physical Education teaching staff, Athletic coaches, and Intramural advisorsWork with administrators and teachers to implement an effective physical education programProvide guidance and direction for the district’s sports program, oversees the strategic plan for the athletic department and ensures all safety protocols are adhered toServes as a district liaison for Section XIPrepare budgets and allocates spending on items such as, team travel, equipment purchases, and facility upkeepStay current on the various rules and regulations, schedules, budget figures, and information on personnelEstablish and maintain departmental policies and procedures and conduct regular departmental meetingsObserve and evaluate staff performanceWork with principals to maintain articulation within the program between buildings and grade levelsOversee the maintenance the supervision of the High School poolMaintains effective communication with students, staff and community members Diverse and Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
