BRENTWOOD UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICTBRENTWOOD, NY The Brentwood Union Free School District, New York’s largest suburban school District, announces the following vacancy for an analytical, dedicated, progressive, and creative educational leader:Department Head of Speech and Hearing(10.25-month work year) Job Summary:A staff position directly responsible to the Assistant Superintendent of Special Services Minimum Requirements:Must hold appropriate NYS administrative certification (SDA/SDL)Certification as a teacher of Speech and Language Disabilities & a minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Impaired.Master’s degree in Speech Pathology.Able to supervise for NYS Licensure, A.S.H.A. Certification and Medicaid supervision.NYS License as a Speech Pathologist; Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology.Familiarity with the Cleartrack database. Job Responsibilities:Help establish and maintain departmental policies in accordance with the guidelines prescribed by the State Ed Department, the District, and the Office of Special Services.Encourage good public relations through daily contact and communication with all stakeholders. Maintain a high level of professional competence within the Speech and Hearing Department by offering direct counsel and assistance with individual cases, devising and reviewing evaluation and progress reporting techniques, observation of therapy and evaluation of District wide speech related progress.Assist in the recruitment, selection, and recommendation of department personnel. Supervises, trains and evaluates speech teachers District wide. Assists speech teachers in becoming familiar with District processes and procedures. Develop professional development programs for staff within the department.Chair District level CSE meetings.Participate in the formulation of departmental budgets.Provide supervision and support to the District Audiologist.Assist in maintaining compliance as per the Part 200 Regulations.Oversee the placement and services of students attending state supported schools.Work with administrators and parents to develop and maintain appropriate paperwork for students attending deaf, blind, private, and parochial programs.Assist with Medicaid Compliance and quality assurance.Other duties as required by the Assistant Superintendent of Special Services.
