Physical Education Teacher Qualifications:Must hold NYS Physical Education CertificationSuccessful public school teaching experience preferredResponsibilities:Prepare lessons and units that are aligned to the New York State Learning Standards for Physical Education and the National (SHAPE) Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes.Teach children activities to develop strength, coordination and motor skills.Encourage students to recognize the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and social interaction.Teach group activities patiently that will allow all students to participate comfortably.Instruct children to exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others.Develop teamwork, interaction and group problem solving in a funand challenging atmosphere.Attend staff development days to improve pedagogical skills and welcome assistance and feedback from colleagues and supervisors.Track and record student progress and keep records up to date for progress monitoring and report cards.Communicate regularly with parents and legal guardians children’s academic, social and emotional skills and performance.
