Assistant Coordinator for English Language Arts and Social Studies (10.25-month work year)Job Summary: A multifaceted role that encompasses assisting the coordinator with overseeing and coordinating curriculum, instruction, and integration of language arts, social studies, and digital fluency within the District. This position focuses on promoting literacy, historical understanding, and digital literacy among students while aligning the curriculum with educational standards and best practices to meet the needs of all students. Reports to: Coordinator of English Language Arts and Social Studies Minimum Qualifications:Required: New York State certification as School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) Preferred: Proficient in MS Office 365 Products and Educational Technology,Certification in Reading The candidate’s essential duties, responsibilities and qualifications will consist of the following: Maintain up-to-date curriculum maps and syllabi ensuring that scope and sequence are aligned with educational standards and objectives.Stay updated on the latest educational trends, research, and development in language arts, social studies, and computer science and digital fluency.Assist in organizing and facilitating professional development workshops and training sessions to enhance instructional techniques and content knowledge. provide feedback and/or demonstration lessons.Involved in selecting appropriate textbooks, instructional materials, and digital resources aligned with the curriculum objectives to meet the needs of diverse learners.Expertise and experience with local proficiency data and data warehousing to inform, differentiate instruction, and monitor growth over time.Work closely with teachers, elementary reading consultants, MTSS specialists, library media specialists, the IT Department, and other coordinators and administrators to ensure continuity of instruction and delivery of 21st century skills.Assist with inventory and yearly ordering and distribution of curricular resources and materials and work with outside vendors and/or BOCES for pricing information and professional learning options.Establish and maintain curriculum nights and community events to foster meaningful engagement with students and families.All other duties as determined by the coordinator.
