Reading SpecialistThe Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking an Elementary Reading Teacher. We seek culturally responsive individuals who foster a love of learning and inspire students to attain the highest level of success.Job Summary: The role of the Reading Specialist is to provide high-quality instruction, support, and leadership to produce high-quality outcomes in the area of Reading and Literacy for the students at -- Elementary School. The Reading Specialist will provide interventions to scholars and work with teachers to implement additional support in the classroom. The Reading Specialist will lead the charge in creating a reading culture that ensures strong instruction, systematic phonics instruction, and a genuine, institutional love for reading.We are looking for reading specialists who are professionals with literacy or reading certification and experience in teaching reading to struggling readers in particular. The reading specialist supports, supplements, and extends classroom teaching and works collaboratively to implement a research-based quality reading program that meets students' needs.Duties and responsibilities: Teach targeted reading intervention to small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources. Assists struggling students in improving their reading and fluency skills. Be knowledgeable of and champion the components of a scientifically based Structured Reading Program.Creates and examines data to measure the success of their Reading RtI studentsConduct individual and school-wide assessments to evaluate Tier levels and targeted interventions. Review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading and support services via the MTSS Framework.Create a schedule for the K-5 Reading RtI program, ensuring all qualifiers are seen the appropriate number of minutes according to District and NYSED Regs.Other duties as assigned by the Principal and K-12 ELA SupervisorWe seek culturally responsive individuals who foster a love of learning and inspire students to attain the highest level of success.
