K-12 World Languages and ENL DirectorWork Year: 210 DaysThe K-12 ENL and World Languages Director is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of English as a New Language (ENL) and World Language programs. The Director works with teachers, administrators, and parents to create effective language programs that support the needs of each student.Major Responsibilities:Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of national and state regulations and standards, as well as the content and best instructional practices in all the courses within your departments.Facilitate the development of innovative courses to meet individual students' needs (AIS, enrichment AP, Distance Learning, college credit-bearing courses, etc.)Serve as a resource for teachers procuring instructional materials and methods for teaching World Languages and ENL.Coordinate the administration and scoring of local and state assessments including the NYSITELL, NYSESLAT and World Language Checkpoint exams. Assure that data submissions for state assessments are clear, accurate, and complete.Oversee the data monitoring and permanent records of all ELLs.Participate in developing criteria for placement into language programs.Serve as the District Coordinator for the NYS Seal of Biliteracy.Oversee the hiring, supervision, mentoring, and evaluation of World Languages and ENL teachers.Guide and assist in the coordination of staff development in your departments.Plan and run department meetings adhering to shared decision making guidelines.Maximize the use of financial resources in your departments by developing immediate and long-range needs of your departments in conjunction with the building principals.Facilitate the development and planning of the PEACE exchange program.Attend and participate in state and regional professional organizations including Capital Area Language Leaders, ENL Rountables and other regional groups.Facilitate communication with teachers and families, especially as pertaining to the ELLs Parent's Bill of Rights and mandated biannual meetings with teachers and parents.Participate in the supervision, coordination, and administration of all department-related events outside of the school day.Teaching responsibilities will be no greater than .4 FTE with no assigned daily student supervision.Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of SchoolsCertifications- Valid New York State certificate as a School District Leader or School District Administrator and either a valid New York State certificate in a World Language or ENLBurnt Hills Ballston Lake Central School District strives to build a culturally responsive and inclusive environment that encourages, embraces and celebrates diversity.Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is in compliance with the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Title IX Educational Amendments of 1972.
