Brunswick CSD is currently seeking a Director of Special Education. NYS Certification in SDL required. SDA preferred. Experienced candidates are welcome to apply. The Director of Special Education is directly responsible to the Superintendent under whose supervision he/she coordinates the Special Education programs. This function includes, but is not limited to, the supervision of related service providers, program specialists, special education and designated instructional services personnel, special education student records, special education grant programs and other appropriate certified and classified staff.Must be able to: Provide strong, visionary, educational leadership in conjunction with district goals, establish a caring supportive and creative climate, solve problems creatively and collaboratively, and provide innovative and supportive leadership.Major duties and responsibilities: Ensures that the district complies with state and federal laws as well as regulations relative to special education, directs and assists assigned staff in carrying out effective programs in the areas of psychological services, speech therapy, and special education, provides administrative assistance and supervision for the conduct of these programs, promotes professional growth of assigned staff, participated in study conferences and committees, and evaluates assigned personnel in accordance with the current APPR Plan and regulations, coordinates program services.
