Numbers matter—but so do people. As a Senior Payroll Clerk in our high-performing school district, you’ll play a key role in making sure every employee is paid accurately and on time, all while being part of a team that genuinely enjoys working together. This isn’t your typical payroll position. You’ll join a supportive, collaborative environment where teamwork is strong, communication is open, and people show up for one another. Our positive culture means you’ll be surrounded by colleagues who are dedicated, approachable, and committed to doing great work—while keeping things upbeat and respectful. In this role, you will coordinate and oversee the full payroll process for all district employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with collective bargaining agreements, laws, and regulations. You’ll review, audit, and reconcile payroll data—including time and attendance, salary schedules, stipends, and contractual payments—while identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions. A strong understanding of compensation structures is key, as you’ll interpret and apply complex provisions from CBAs, individual employment agreements, and district policies. You’ll ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (including FLSA, IRS, and NYS TRS/ERS reporting requirements), and manage statutory reporting with precision. Responsibilities also include preparing and submitting payroll reports and year-end processes such as retirement reporting, tax filings, W-2s, and reconciliations. As a trusted resource, you’ll serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, supporting employees, administrators, and external agencies with clarity and professionalism. You’ll monitor and maintain payroll systems (such as Frontline and nVision), ensuring data integrity and continuously improving processes. Collaboration is central to this role—you’ll work closely with Human Resources and the Business Office to ensure accurate onboarding, salary placement, leave tracking (including FMLA and paid/unpaid leave), and benefit deductions. You’ll also analyze payroll processes, recommend improvements, and support internal and external audits through thoughtful preparation and responsiveness. If you’re detail-oriented, solutions-focused, and enjoy being part of a team that values both excellence and a positive workplace culture, this is a place where you can truly thrive. This position is only open to candidates currently on the civil service list for Senior Payroll Clerk or are currently working as a Senior Payroll Clerk .
