Brookfield Central School District Job Posting: Literacy Specialist (PreK–12) Location: Brookfield Central School District, Brookfield, NY Appointment: Full-Time, 10-Month Position Start Date: September 2026 Salary: Commensurate with experience and per the Brookfield CSD Teachers’ Association Contract Position Overview Brookfield Central School District is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Literacy Specialist to support the development and implementation of high-quality literacy instruction across grades Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. The Literacy Specialist will work collaboratively with teachers and administrators to strengthen instructional practices, improve student literacy outcomes, and support district literacy initiatives. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to literacy development, instructional coaching, and the implementation of research-based literacy practices. Responsibilities The Literacy Specialist will: Support the implementation of evidence-based literacy instruction across all grade levels Collaborate with teachers to plan, model, and refine effective literacy strategies Provide instructional coaching and professional development to teachers Assist in the development and alignment of district literacy curriculum and assessments Analyze student performance data to inform instruction and identify areas for improvement Support interventions for students requiring additional literacy support Assist in the selection and implementation of literacy resources and instructional materials Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support diverse learners Promote a strong culture of literacy throughout the district Minimum Qualifications Candidates must possess: Valid New York State Teaching Certification in one of the following areas: Literacy (Birth–Grade 6 or All Grades), or Reading Teacher / Reading Specialist, or English Language Arts with demonstrated literacy expertise Successful classroom teaching experience Strong knowledge of literacy instruction, assessment, and intervention practices Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates who have: Experience providing instructional coaching or professional development Experience working within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Knowledge of structured literacy and evidence-based reading instruction Experience supporting literacy development across multiple grade levels Application Process Interested candidates should apply through OLAS and submit the following: • Letter of interest • Resume • NYS Certification documentation • Transcripts • Three professional references *Brookfield Central School District is an equal opportunity employer.
