Wells Middle School APPLICATION DEADLINE: June 4, 2026 SALARY: Terms of employment are in accordance with the Brewster Teacher’s Association contract (BTA) PROFILE OF AN IDEAL BREWSTER INSTRUCTIONAL CANDIDATE Demonstrate sound pedagogy that illuminates student-centered instructional practices. Demonstrate a commitment to culturally responsive education whereby structural practices that promote inclusion and equity are clearly communicated. Demonstrate a commitment to social-emotional learning whereby structural practices that illuminate emotional intelligence, emotional regulation, and mental health are communicated. Demonstrate content expertise whereby a genuine passion and scholarship for the candidate’s content area is revealed. Have the ability to teach 6-8th grade orchestra and orchestral instruments, with a strong foundation of classical pedagogy. Contribute to bridging the gap between the elementary and high school programs by collaborating with the strings department to create and maintain one 4-12 strings articulated curriculum. Conduct lessons, rehearsals, performances, and concerts during the school year. Recruit and retain students in the music program with a mindset for growing the program. Be able to assess student progress and provide feedback. Be able to participate in school and community events. Have the ability to direct/coach extracurricular music activities (e.g. Guitar Club, Chamber Orchestra). Able to maintain and manage school-owned musical instruments and equipment. Have a proven record of increasing student participation and success in NYSSMA Solo and County Ensemble festivals.
