Posting #25-26-156 ANTICIPATED VACANCY NOTICE (Revised) (Pending Budget Approval) POSITION : Administrator of Wellness & Athletic Development (12-month Probationary Administrative Position) CERTIFICATION : NYS Administrative Certification: SAS, SDA, or Administrator Certificate LOCATION: Districtwide EFFECTIVE DATE: July 1, 2026 APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 20, 2026 SALARY: Terms of employment are in accordance with the AAB contract MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS NYS School District Leader Certification (SDL), SAS, or NYS Administrator Certificate Master’s Degree At least five (5) years of teaching experience At least five (5) years of coaching experience This position enhances the District’s ability to support the “whole student-athlete” by integrating wellness, academics, and athletics while strengthening community partnerships and improving the operational efficiency of the athletic department. Furthermore, it represents the district’s vision to support the physical well-being of all students. This position reports to the Director of PE, Health, and Athletics. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Administrator of Wellness and Athletic Development, in collaboration with the Athletic Director, plays a multifaceted role in shaping the educational experiences and outcomes of our student-athletes, supporting the professional growth of coaches, and fostering a culture of excellence and wellness within the school community. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Athlete Mental Health and Wellness Develop and promote a holistic approach to student-athlete wellness, emphasizing mental fitness Collaborate with clinical staff, coaches, and educators across the district to integrate mental health supports into the athletic program. Provide resources and learning opportunities for student-athletes to address stress, anxiety, performance pressure, time management, and body image. Foster a culture that values and prioritizes mental wellness among student-athletes. District/Community Youth Collaboration : Assist the Athletic Director’s liaison efforts between the District and local youth organizations Implement initiatives that would increase student participation and access to a variety of sports, beginning in elementary school. Partner with the Athletic Director and local youth organizations to coordinate joint youth programming that strengthens shared goals between the youth sports community and the district’s athletics department. Collaborate with community organizations, businesses, and local leaders to enhance resources and opportunities for students. Establish a mentorship program from varsity to youth players, intentionally building systems that allow for our older students to interact with younger students. Scheduling and Facilities Coordination : Coordinate the use of athletic facilities, including gymnasiums, fields, and the fieldhouse, between school teams and community organizations. Ensure equitable access to facilities based on district needs and community partnerships. Assist in scheduling non-league games in collaboration with coaches. Assist coaches in selecting the right opponents and maximizing opportunity. Strength and Conditioning Program, Athlete Development : Establish a developmentally appropriate strength and conditioning program across all sports, in collaboration with coaches and external partners. Ensure consistency and quality of training regardless of coach experience. Develop and maintain sport-specific skill progressions from youth through varsity levels. Establish vertical articulation of programs to enhance long-term athletic development. Promoting Physical Wellness for All Students Expand wellness opportunities for all students, not just athletes. Work with existing resources and pursue new supports to enhance opportunity. Use data to examine the student-athletes who are participating versus those who are not and identify root causes for those student-athletes who are not involved in an effort to expand opportunity. Supporting Vision 2030 : Supports coaches and staff in understanding and implementing the goals and skills outlined in Vision 2030. They align school initiatives and practices with district priorities to ensure coherence and consistency in achieving educational objectives. Academic Accountability and Recognition : Use data to assess our current practices for monitoring student-athlete academic progress. Follow up with students who have been identified as not meeting academic expectations to ensure that they are working towards the best of their ability. Promote and expand recognition programs for academic and athletic achievement at the school, section, local, and state levels. Parent Engagement: Builds strong partnerships with parents and families to support student-athlete success. Supporting Coaches Establish and maintain accountability for the Coaching-Mentor program. Establish a pipeline of highly qualified coaches. Provide appropriate professional development for district and youth coaches. Additional Responsibilities Assist the Athletic Director in other designated areas as needed. Attend home and away games (weekdays and weekends). Assist the Athletic Director in coordinating events, including, but not limited to: Homecoming and awards ceremonies after each season. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Well-versed in all components of the NYSED Athletic Placement Process Knowledgeable sports-related concussion protocol for head injuries that occur during PE/athletics. Bilingual Spanish - Preferred (Not Required) Experience in athletics administration, coaching, and/or physical education. Knowledge of student-athlete development and wellness practices. Comprehensive best practices and the structures that support student-athlete learning. Consistently demonstrate and model high moral, ethical, and professional standards of performance and personal integrity. Ability to communicate effectively and establish cooperative working relationships with all stakeholders. Work collaboratively with other district administrators.
