EFFECTIVE DATE: 8/27/2025 LOCATION: Brewster High School APPLICATION DEADLINE: June 26, 2025 SALARY: Terms of employment are in accordance with the Brewster Teachers Association contract (BTA) PROFILE OF AN IDEAL BREWSTER INSTRUCTIONAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate must demonstrate sound pedagogy that illuminates student-centered instructional practices.The ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to culturally responsive education, whereby structural practices that promote inclusion and equity are clearly communicated. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to social-emotional learning whereby structural practices that illuminate emotional intelligence, emotional regulation, and mental health are communicated. The ideal candidate must demonstrate content expertise, whereby a genuine passion and scholarship for the candidate’s content area is revealed.The ideal candidate must have the ability to teach HS Concert and Jazz Band with a strong foundation of classical and jazz pedagogy.The ideal candidate must be able to conduct rehearsals, performances, and concerts during the school year.The ideal candidate must be able to recruit and retain students in the music program with a mind set for growing the program.The ideal candidate must be able to assess student progress and provide feedback.The ideal candidate must be able to participate in school and community events.The ideal candidate must have the ability to direct/coach extracurricular music activities (e.g. chamber ensemble, Marching Band, and NYSSMA repertoire.The ideal candidate must be able to maintain and manage school-owned musical instruments and equipment.The ideal candidate must have a proven record of increasing student participation and success in NYSSMA Solo and Ensemble festivals.The ability to teach a HS Electronic Music or Music Production Course elective courses is a plus.Knowledge of technical/lighting and sound needs for musicals, plays, and performances etc, is a plus.Want to learn more about the Brewster Central School District?
