Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment K-12Effective - July 1, 2024Minimum QualificationsNYS School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader Certification (SDL)Master’s DegreeAt least five (5) years of teaching experienceAt least five (5) years of leadership experienceThis role requires a dynamic and forward-thinking educational leader committed to promoting student success through innovative curriculum, effective instruction, and comprehensive assessment practices.Position OverviewThe Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment plays a pivotal role in providing visionary leadership and strategic direction for the development, implementation, and enhancement of the PK-12 educational programs within the school district. Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Schools, this position requires a seasoned educational leader with a strong background in curriculum design, instructional methodologies, and assessment practices. Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Development and Review:Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the PK-12 curriculum in alignment with district goals and state standards.Establish and maintain a systematic curriculum review process to ensure relevance and effectiveness.Instructional Leadership:Provide leadership in fostering innovative instructional practices district-wide.Collaborate with school administrators and teachers to enhance instructional strategies that align with the district's educational objectives.Support the implementation of technology in the curriculum to enhance learning outcomes.Collaborate with Building Liaisons and Curriculum Coordinators to support instruction throughout the district and set professional learning goals aligned with Vision 2026.Conduct teacher and administrative observations in accordance with the NYS approved APPR Plan. Assessment and Data Analysis:Oversee the design and implementation of assessment strategies to measure student progress and inform instructional decision-making.Analyze student achievement data including MTSS team reports and work with school leadership to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.Vision Implementation:Co-lead efforts to embed Vision 2026, into curriculum and instructional practices.Ensure that instructional programs reflect the district's long-term educational vision.Initiative Support:Support and enhance district-wide initiatives, including but not limited to P-Tech, Universal Pre-Kindergarten, and two-way dual language programs.Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of educational initiatives.Budget and Grants (In collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations) : Provide relevant information to the Business Office for the preparation of the instructional budget and grant applications.Manage Federal Grants, including Titles I, IIA, III-ELL, III-Immigrant, IV.Regulatory Compliance:Ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.Communicate regulatory changes to stakeholders, including educators, parents, and administrators.Relationship Building:Develop and establish effective working relationships with educators, support staff, administrators, parent/guardian(s), and community-based organizations.Foster cooperation, collegiality, collaboration, and trust within the educational community.Effectively work with a group of diverse stakeholders. Personnel Evaluation:Evaluate certificated staff and administrators, providing constructive feedback for professional growth.Committee Oversight:Facilitate and oversee relevant committees, including Policy, APPR (Annual Professional Performance Review), and Attendance.Professional Development:Attend and participate in conferences and workshops to stay informed about innovative instructional programs, practices, and educational research. Participate in PNWB (Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES) Curriculum Council meetings.Model a commitment to continuous professional learning.Work in collaboration with the Director of Literacy and Professional Development to develop a cohesive professional development plan aligned with district goals and initiatives. Collaboration with Central Office Team:Add value to a cohesive Central Office team dedicated to supporting all children, educators, staff, and families.Recruitment and Orientation (In collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources):Assist in the recruiting, interviewing, and assigning of qualified candidates for teaching and administrative positions.Assist in planning and facilitating the new employee orientation program.Additional Responsibilities:Civil Rights Compliance/Title IX OfficerTitle IV Compliance Officer Districtwide DASA CoordinatorAssist the Superintendent of Schools or her designees in other designated areas as needed.The Brewster CSD will only consider electronic, online form submissions made through the OLAS website.
