Applications are now being accepted for the following position in the Binghamton City School District for the 2023-2024 school year: Position: Director of Early Childhood through Grade 12; Literacy and Humanities Qualifications: New York State Certification School District and Administrator (SDA) Preferred: Experience as an Administrator and Teacher with leadership in curriculum and knowledge of NYSED Standards and Assessments with specialization in Humanities and Early Childhood Education Job Goal: To provide leadership in the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the instructional program Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and BudgetPerformance Responsibilities:Provide staff leadership to ensure understanding of and promote the educational objectives of the District, and coordinate and implement the professional development of District personnel for Departments including ELA, World Languages, Social Studies, and ENL.Work with Principals, Department Chairs, district instructional support staff, and Teachers to effect horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of the instructional program.Coordinate formal efforts of the professional staff for curriculum development.Assist in the formulation of a philosophy and objectives for the instructional program.Keep abreast of developments in curriculum, instruction and assessment and provide leadership in determining the appropriateness for inclusion into the educational program.Establish liaisons with institutions of higher learning (colleges and universities), Boards of Cooperative Educational Services and other educational domains for the purpose of utilizing research and best practices in the development and implementation of shared instructional and curricular programs.Conduct analysis of instructional programs and materials, and work to assure that courses are designed with adequate attention to scope and sequence for effective learning.Stimulate experimentation, inter-visitation and enrichment of curricula and teaching methods by instructional staff.Plan and monitor the implementation of new and existing instructional programs.Responsible for writing and overseeing the Title III grantAssist in the development, implementation and revision of a long-range plan for the use of present and emerging technology designed to improve the teaching/learning process. Binghamton City School District Christopher Columbus School 164 Hawley Street PO Box 2126 Binghamton, NY 13902-2126 (607) 762-8100 Fax: (607) 762-8110 Educating, empowering and challenging all students to become productive, global citizens through innovative approaches to learning.Review, approve, evaluate and inform instructional staff and administrators of recently developed commercial software, including recommendations to integrate same into curriculum.Observe and evaluate, the in-class performance of teachers, and confer and consult with them regarding their professional development.Collaborate in the development of effective staff development program for the District, in concert with the Teaching Center, BOCES and other instructional resources.Plan, develop and coordinate expenditures for/from the school budget that pertain to curriculum instruction and staff development.Support the orientation programs for new teachers.Report to the Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, the Board of Education and the community on the status of the instructional program.Assist in the development of District policies, regulations and procedures pertinent to curriculum, instruction, staff development and technology.Serve on appropriate committees to ensure articulation among elementary, middle and high school instructional programs.Analyze test data to provide information for curriculum revision and AIS instruction.Design and implement professional development aimed at improving student performance.Assist the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Budget in the supervision of Teachers of Humanities Early Childhood – grade 12.Assume such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent.Terms of Employment: Interim position concluding June 30, 2024 Twelve-months. Salary, Category Il, is established by the Binghamton Administrative and Supervisory Association Contract.Evaluation: Annual performance evaluation conducted by the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Budget
