Leadership experience with preference for secondary level instruction. Current knowledge of NYS curriculum, student assessments, and research based on instructional practices. Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Budget and the Building Principal Performance Responsibilities: The Associate Principal must be a student-focused educator who possesses knowledge of best research-based and results driven practices to close academic achievement gaps. The individual must have an excellent grasp of curriculum, instruction and assessment as they relate to the teaching-learning process and the dynamics of the high school classroom. The Associate Principal must have a lead role in closing the academic achievement gaps across all student cohorts. The Associate Principal will network with BHS staff and the appropriate district staff to identify student failure and to prescribe and monitor academic intervention strategies. The Associate Principal must have the skills necessary to produce, process and analyze trends in student performance data reports. The Associate Principal will work collaboratively to ensure that student data reports flow seamlessly through the organization. The Associate Principal will serve as the Data Coordinator for the high school. The Associate Principal must possess a strong knowledge base for directing and coordinating organizational operations for a high school with 11 academic departments, 180 courses, 1,500 students and a faculty and support staff of 250. The Associate Principal will serve as a lead communicator in adjunct to the Principal. Strong oral, written, and listening skills are required for open communication with students, faculty, parents and members of the BHS school community.The Associate Principal must be capable of reacting and making decisions under pressure/stressful conditions. It is essential for the candidate to be capable of high performance in a multi-tasked school environment. Additionally, it is expected that the Associate Principal will assume the Role of Principal in their absence. The Associate Principal will serve as a building liaison to various meetings and groups. The Associate Principal will serve as a SLT member for the administrative team. The Associate Principal will work with the Community Schools Coordinator to assist in creating further collaboration between community agencies, administration and staff. The Associate Principal assist the Principal in the planning development, implementation and evaluation of instructional programs and materials, as well as professional development. The Associate Principal assists in the supervision and evaluation of specific staff employees within the school, as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Budget. The Associate Principal will work with a caseload of students to manage and oversee their academic and graduation progress as well as disciplinary matters. The Associate Principal will assist with the creation and oversight of the master schedule for teachers, support staff and students. The Associate Principal will oversee/assist with various special projects at the discretion of the Principal (Senior Awards, B.E.D.S Data, Grants, NYSED reviews, SCEP, State Audits, etc.) The Associate Principal will be responsible for all NYS Regents Testing, including ordering exams, creating proctoring schedules and the running of both January and June exams. The Associate Principal will have knowledge of and oversee all academic programs and testing, including but not limited to International Baccalaureate, NYSESLAT and Advanced Placement. The Associate Principal will act as the Advanced Placement Coordinator, NYSESLAT Coordinator and the administrative liaison to the International Baccalaureate Coordinator. The Associate Principal will be highly visible at school functions and events. The Associate Principal will act as a visionary and assist the Principal with creating and implementing new programs and instructional practices. Terms of Employment: Salary, Category II, as established by the Binghamton Administrative and Supervisory Association Contract.Evaluation: Annual performance evaluation conducted by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Budget.
