Ballston Spa Central school district has a provisional vacancy for a Micro-computer Software Training Technician. Full time, 10 month position. This position will be filled provisionally pending the results of a Civil Service Exam that will be scheduled at a later date Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college with a Bachelors Degree and one (1) year of experience working with computer software in a networked environment.Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college with an Associates Degree in Computer Technology, Data Processing, Computer Science, Electronic Technology or related field and two (3) years experience working with computer software in a network environment.Graduation form high school or possession of a GED and three (5) years experience as described in (A) above; ORAn equivalent combination of training and experience as outlined by the limits of (A) and (B) above. Salary: $31.08/hr. Distinguishing features of the class:This is responsible work involving instruction, demonstrating as well as support for microcomputer software within a school district. This work involves familiarization with the micro computer field. This position is in charge of all of the training for staff on software that is used for school district functions. This position is also the Help Desk for technical and software problems. The incumbent will be required to have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to make independent judgments. Work is performed under the general supervision of the higher ranking computer technology position or higher ranking school district administrator with considerable leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment. Does related work as required.Typical work activities:Provides training in all modules of school software and microcomputer equipment; Provides telephone support for technical and software problems; Provides on-site support to staff and administrators; Creates customized data reports; Troubleshooting system errors; Secures tech support from vendors and maintaining files; Attends various meetings and conducts in service programs providing informal services about school computer programs with school administrators, teachers, and other staff; Prepares related records or reports as required.Full performance knowledges, skills, abilities and personal characteristics: Thorough knowledge of micro-computer applications and software; good communication and organizational skills; ability to express ideas clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; ability to work with individuals or with groups of people; ability to relate new Information Technology concepts, products, and services to the user community in a non-technical, understandable manner; physical condition to commensurate with the demands of the position.
