Ballston Spa Central School District has a vacancy for a Computer Network Technical Assistant.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves the support of help desk, computer, software and peripherals for the Technology Services Department. General supervision is received from a higher-ranking Technological employee. Does related work as required.TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only)Instructs personnel on proper use of equipment; Operates a help desk for all users of computers; Assists in the preparation of specification for all computer hardware; Load computer software; Assists in the maintenance of the district’s computer network; Maintains inventory of computer parts; Assists in the scheduling of computer workshops; Assists with purchasing of computer network components; Dispatches and schedules vendors; Tracks all technical service calls; Set and maintain communication with all accounts; Prepares related records or reports as required.FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good working knowledge of operating systems application software packages; good knowledge of a computer network system; working knowledge of operation, care and adjustment of a computer network; good organizational skills; good communication skills; ability to work with others in a team environment; ability to keep up with the changing technical field; physical condition commensurate with demands of the position.Position will be filled provisionally pending the results of a Civil Service exam to be given at a later date.Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Technology, Data Processing, Computer Science, Electronic Technology or related field and two (2) years of experience working with computers in a network environment, mainframe and/or personal computers; Or Graduation from high school or possession of a GED and four (4) years’ experience working with computers in a network environment, mainframe and/or personal computers.ORCandidate must currently be employed serving in a permanent, full time status for a minimum of one year in the title of Computer Network Technical Assistant for Saratoga County. Qualified candidate must not be serving in a probationary capacity.
