The leader will be both flexible and determined in pursuing the District vision and living out its core values. The Director will be responsible for oversight and compliance of all legal and regulatory aspects of special education in the district, and will supervise faculty and support staff in their work with students. Qualifications: Hold a valid New York State Special Education, School Counselor, or School Psychologist Certification and School District Administrator or School District Leadership certification Minimum of five years of teaching, counseling or psychologist experience at the school building level Minimum of three years of administrative experience as an Assistant Director, Director, or building administrator Must have command of all law and regulations governing special education in NYS Must have a strong understanding of whole child education, Multi-Tiered Student Support system (MTSS), inclusive co-teaching models, and Trauma-Skilled School practices Knowledge and best practices for facilitating meetings of the Committee on Special Education Possess a staunch advocacy for students Must be willing to listen to stakeholders and team with them to solve challenges and design new opportunities
