Social Studies Teacher(s) - (Grades 7–12 Certification Required; 5–6 Extension Preferred/Required, Bilingual Preferred) Fox Lane Middle School is seeking dynamic and student-centered Social Studies Teacher(s) to join our collaborative learning community. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all students—particularly multilingual learners—engage deeply with history, civic life, and critical thinking. Position Overview Successful candidates will deliver engaging, standards-aligned social studies instruction at the middle level, with a focus on literacy, inquiry, and student voice. This role includes teaching students in grades 5 and/or 6, and supporting a diverse student population through differentiated and tiered instructional practices within an MTSS framework. Required Qualifications: - New York State Certification in Social Studies (Grades 7–12) - Strong knowledge of middle-level social studies curriculum and New York State Social Studies Framework - Ability to design and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction Preferred Qualifications: - Experience supporting literacy development in the content area (e.g., vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing from sources) - Experience working with Multilingual Learners (MLs/ELLs) - Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English - Experience with MTSS/RTI frameworks, including Tier 1 differentiation and targeted interventions - Familiarity with Academic Intervention Services (AIS) or support classes - Ability to facilitate discussion-based learning and inquiry (e.g., document-based questions, civic discourse) - Experience using data to inform instruction and monitor student progress Key Responsibilities: - Deliver standards-aligned social studies instruction that promotes critical thinking, inquiry, and civic engagement - Integrate reading, writing, and academic vocabulary into daily instruction - Differentiate instruction to support all learners, including multilingual students and those requiring intervention - Collaborate with ENL, special education, and intervention staff to support student success - Use formative and summative data to guide instruction and intervention - Foster a classroom environment rooted in belonging, respect, and high expectations Why Join Fox Lane Middle School?
