The Bedford Central School District is seeking an Athletic Trainer 11 Month position *Please see detailed Job Description on following page* Applicants are subject to Civil Service approval/exam for this title –Athletic Trainer and must meet Westchester County Civil Service MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Certification as an Athletic Trainer in accordance with Article 162 of the New York State Education Law. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Current certification in American Heart Association or American Red Cross Standard First Aid and/or Community CPR or EMT certificate at the time of appointment. Certification/License: NYS Athletic Training License, BOC Certification, CPR/AED Certification Job Description: An incumbent of this position is a healthcare professional responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes. The AT works collaboratively with school administrators, coaches, physicians, and other healthcare providers to ensure a safe and healthy athletic environment in compliance with New York State regulations and professional standards. - Provides on-site athletic training services for school sponsored athletic events/practices. - Communicates injury status and return-to-play decisions with physicians, coaches, athletes, and parents. - Maintains an inventory and determines the need for athletic training supplies, equipment and maintenance services. - Conducts initial evaluation following an injury and makes decisions regarding the management of the injury. - Ensures compliance with NYS regulations, district policies, and professional standards. - Develops and implements injury prevention and wellness programs and communicates sound health habits to student athletes, parents, coaches and school staff. - Establishes and maintains detailed records on student athletes including sports physicals, incident report forms and prepares reports as required. - Available to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends during athletic seasons.
