Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel ServicesCommencing with the 2026/2027 School year, The Bedford Central School District is seeking a highly effective Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services. This is an 11-month position affiliated with the Bedford Association of Supervisors and Administrators (BASA) collective bargaining agreement. Responsibilities include: Assists Building Principals with Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) and Title IX investigations.Reviews and approves all Individual Home Instruction Plans (IHIPs).Oversees all out-of-district and privately placed students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).Manages new out-of-district placement recommendations.Assigns and supervises tutors providing homebound instruction.Chairs all out-of-district Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings.Chairs all Manifestation Determination meetings in accordance with state and federal regulations.Serves as lead evaluator for related service providers.Provides oversight and guidance to Supervisors of Special Services and Coordinators of Special Services.Coordinate and manage Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training for staffComplete state reporting for incidents of physical restraint or timeoutParticipates in the budget development process to support program and student needs.Supports all processes and programs related to:Non-Resident/Tuition StudentsHomebound Instruction, Tutoring, and HomeschoolingMcKinney-Vento requestsSection 504 PlansIndividualized Education Programs (IEPs) for district students, privately placed students, and students placed out of districtRequirements: NYS School District Leader Certification required.
