The Bedford Central School District is seeking an Elementary Coordinator Teacher for West Patent Elementary School commencing with the 26/27 School Year. Overarching Job ResponsibilitiesThe Elementary Coordinator position is a building-based teacher leadership position that reaches beyond the particular building to work within a districtwide system to promote student achievement and district goals as outlined by the BCSD Success Plan. As part of the teacher (BTA) contract, the Elementary Coordinator is a teacher on special assignment whose duties and responsibilities support both building-level and district-wide curriculum initiatives. Working in partnership with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, building principal, math coach, literacy coach and MTSS coordinator, the Elementary Coordinator is involved in all aspects of curriculum implementation, student achievement, school life, and district initiatives and action plans. This role requires participation in all facets of district and building leadership, 5 days of summer curriculum work, including the Leadership Retreat each year in August, Leadership Learning Walks, Curriculum Council, and Spring Convocation. Specifically, the EC duties and responsibilities include:*Curriculum Implementation & Collaboration with literacy and math coaches: Facilitate implementation of district literacy and math instructional initiatives. Collect information to inform instructional practice, guide work and pacing while sharing challenges with content-specific coaches to help inform professional learning. Collaborate on administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, organizing materials, and managing communication with stakeholders related to literacy and math programs.*Student Assessment & Collaboration with MTSS Coordinator: Oversee implementation of the elementary assessment schedule. Collect, organize, and analyze building-level student data related to literacy and math assessments, student progress, and program effectiveness. This may involve administering assessments, compiling data, oversee TRT meetings, facilitating grade level meetings that support curriculum, as well as preparing reports with the literacy and math coaches, building principals, and MTSS coordinator. Collaborate with principals on building-level, data-driven meetings and support data analysis to support student achievement.*Classroom Support: Collaborate with teachers to provide support in implementing literacy and math strategies, Science investigations, and Social Studies curriculum in the classroom. This may include co-planning lessons, peer-coaching, supporting teachers with effective implementation of curriculum, and providing reflective feedback.*District Professional Development: Support the organization and delivery of professional development opportunities for teachers focused on literacy, math and science/social studies instruction. This may involve coordinating workshops, arranging guest speakers, compiling resources for teacher training, planning of Superintendent Conference Days, and collaborating with building principals on administrator-assigned professional development that support the organization.*Personal Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance personal knowledge and skills in literacy and math instruction, coaching techniques, and educational best practices. Stay current with research and trends in literacy, math and science/social studies education to effectively collaborate with the literacy coach, math coach, and teachers.*Individualized Student Support: Work with individual students or small groups to provide targeted intervention, enrichment and/or support in literacy skills and math skill development. This may involve targeted reading and math groups and implementing intervention programs as needed.*Family and Community Engagement: Assist in engaging parents, caregivers, and community members in supporting literacy, math, science/social studies development at home and in the community. Help organize family literacy and math events, distribute resources, and communicate with families about the importance of literacy and math. This does not include PTA-sponsored events unrelated to curriculum.*Technology Integration: Support the integration of technology tools and resources into literacy and math instruction. Assist teachers in identifying and implementing appropriate digital resources to enhance elementary curriculum-related learning experiences for students.*Resource Management: Help in managing, organizing, and ordering resources such as books, instructional materials, technology tools, and other resources used in literacy, math and science/social studies instruction. Ensure that materials are accessible and effectively utilized by teachers and students. Teacher aide and/or clerical support should be provided to the Elementary Coordinator to support the management and distribution of materials.Overall, an Elementary Coordinator is a master teacher and instructional leader whose role is critical in supporting the implementation of literacy, math, science/social studies initiatives, providing assistance to teachers, supporting the work of content-specific coaches, supporting students, and helping to create a culture of excellence and achievement within the educational community.Candidates should apply on OLAS by February 23, 2026.
