The Bedford Central School District is seeking a dynamic and visionary Principal for Bedford Hills Elementary School.Tenure Track 11 Month Position – Beginning on July 1, 2026 The Bedford Central School District is a mid-sized, diverse, high-performing school district located in Westchester County, NY, serving approximately 3,500 students who reside in Bedford, Pound Ridge, Mount Kisco, and parts of New Castle and North Castle. Bedford Hills Elementary School is one of the five elementary schools in the Bedford Central School District. Bedford Hills is a hamlet of the town of Bedford and serves approximately 300 students. In addition to providing students with an educational experience that fosters curiosity for learning, rigorous challenges, authentic problem-solving, and a skill set that establishes a solid foundation for future learning, teachers offer a safe, secure learning community. Candidate Requirements:An accomplished instructional school leader who values and embraces diversity and is committed to language and cultural immersion education.An effective communicator and collaborator who can lead Bedford Hills Elementary School’s engaged and nurturing faculty, staff, parents, and students in building a shared and inclusive vision.Ability to embrace and maintain a nurturing, warm, and caring family environment.A comprehensive understanding of New York State Learning Standards and the elementary curriculum.Knowledge of and experience with the Science of Reading.Knowledgeable of and understanding of elementary school-aged learners' academic, social, and emotional development.The capacity to promote and maintain a safe and supportive school environment that fosters students' social-emotional and academic development.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Expertise in supervision, curriculum development, and evaluation of staff and programs to improve instruction and learning.Experience in leading staff development and using data-driven leadership to inform instructional and programmatic changes. A process-oriented and inclusive problem solver who approaches all interactions with integrity and transparency.Partner with central administration, principals, and other pedagogical staff to align initiatives and instructional priorities. Qualifications:Valid New York State Administrative Certification (SBL, SAS, or SDA)At least 5 years of successful elementary teaching experience and previously tenured.At least 4 years of successful experience as a building administrator, and earned tenure preferred.Experience serving students for whom English is a new language and students with disabilities, as a teacher or an administrator, is preferred.
