Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations12 Month Position – Probationary AppointmentDesired Start Date: July 1, 2025 The Bedford Central School District is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations commencing with the 2025-2026 school year. The Bedford Central School District, located in Northern Westchester County, a 59-square-mile district, serves the towns of Bedford, Mount Kisco, Pound Ridge, and parts of New Castle and North Castle. A diverse and high-performing student population of approximately 3,800 attend the seven BCSD schools, with an annual budget of roughly $158 million. There are five primary schools, grades K-5, Fox Lane Middle School, grades 6-8, and Fox Lane High School, grades 9-12. The Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools and plays a key, district-wide leadership role as a member of the Superintendent’s Administrative Team and facilitator of various committees. SUMMARY OF POSITION The Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations oversees all aspects of financial operations, including budgeting, purchasing, accounting, cash management, state aid, and various financial reports. Additionally, the Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations manages the budgeting and supervision of district-wide administrative services, such as transportation, food services, school safety, facilities, operations and maintenance, computer management systems, capital projects, and insurance risk programs. The candidate should be a knowledgeable and ethical leader with extensive expertise in overseeing educational finances and managing school district budgets. Experience in fiscal planning, budget development, and business office operations is also required. Demonstrated Success: As a leader in successfully managing school district budgets, capital projects, renovations, facilities, transportation, school safety, and food services. Bargaining Unit Experience: Experience with labor relations and contract negotiations. Understanding: A solid comprehension of all aspects of a School District Business Office includes but is not limited to, components of a school district budget, grants, vendor services, payments, procurement, payroll, benefits, tax collection, and risk management. Knowledge of Education Laws: A decisive and trustworthy administrator with a strong understanding of New York State education laws, state and federal initiatives, and financial trends. Fiscal Stewardship: A responsible steward committed to strong fiscal oversight, managing all aspects of the district’s budget with integrity and a strong moral compass. Team-Oriented Approach: A dedicated, student-focused team player who can provide sound and creative solutions to financially support the district’s mission, vision, goals, and Success Plan. Communication Skills: A transparent and skilled communicator who can clearly convey the district’s current and future financial status, while consistently engaging stakeholders in collaborative budget planning efforts. Collaborative Leadership: A collaborative leadership style, along with excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills. Certification: New York State Certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Business Leader (SDBL).
