The Bedford Central School District is seeking a Full TimeLibrary Media Specialist / Biliterate Library TeacherMount Kisco Elementary Schoolcommencing with the 2024 – 2025 School Year.Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Biliterate Library Teacher to join our Dual Language Bilingual Education community at Mount Kisco Elementary School (DLBE@MKES) in the Bedford Central School District. This role combines the expertise of a librarian with the instructional skills of a teacher, focusing on fostering a love for reading and learning among students who are emergent bilingual learners. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a deep understanding of library sciences, a passion for integrating technology, and the ability to effectively teach and support bilingual students in their academic and literacy development.Responsibilities:Manage the school library, ensuring it is a welcoming and organized space conducive to learning and exploration.Develop and maintain a diverse collection of books, digital resources, and educational materials that cater to students' linguistic and cultural backgrounds.Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate library resources into curriculum activities and projects.Instruct students on information literacy skills, including how to locate, evaluate, and responsibly use information in both languages.Organize and participate in library events, including book fairs, and community outreach programs that promote bilingual literacy, lifelong learning, and parent engagement.Incorporate lessons that integrate STEM and address the Digital Fluency & Computer Science standards.Requirements:Biliterate, Spanish-speaking candidates required.Bilingual extension preferred.NYS Elementary and/or NYS Library Media Specialist Certification.Salary starting at $76,676 or higher commensurate upon experience.Candidates should apply on OLAS by July 22, 2024The Bedford Central School District does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
