BUS DRIVER The Beacon City School District seeks motivated individuals to join our team as Per Diem Bus Drivers. Position Overview : This work involves the operation of an automotive vehicle used to transport students and/or passengers. The operator is responsible for the safety and conduct of the passengers. Responsibilities Include : Operates a school bus or other bus on regular schedule and/or on special occasions; Checks the operating condition of the bus before starting on a trip; Reports any mechanical defect to immediate superior; Checks and fills vehicle with fuel; Instructs students or adult passengers about safety practices when entering and/or leaving bus; Maintains orderly conduct of students or adult passengers while on bus; May clean interior and exterior of assigned vehicle; May be required to administer first aid to students or adult passengers injured on bus. Full Performance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Ability to get along well with school-age children and command their respect; Good observation; Personal characteristics necessary to perform the duties of the position; Must pass Physical Performance Test; Must be able to meet all NYS19A requirements; Must meet all DOT/19A requirements. Schedule & Appointment : Flexible work schedule tailored to district needs and the employee’s availability Appointment through June 30, 2027 Opportunities exist for employees with strong performance to move into roles with more consistent schedules Qualifications : Possession of a valid appropriate level Driver License or Commercial Driver License at the time of appointment (varies by appointing authority). Will also train. $27.00/hour Candidates must pass NYSED School Bus Driver Physical Performance Test and Background Check per NY State Requirements This is an ongoing recruitment.
