Marcus Avenue currently serves nearly 300 children from ages six weeks to five years of age. We offer infant and toddler day care, integrated preschool and self-contained preschool special education classes with an option of extended care should the family desire. Home and community based services are also availablePrimary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:Evaluate and provide appropriate special education services to assigned childrenOversee activities of assigned teacher assistants and aides; communicate appropriately and in a timely manner with families of assigned childrenIncrease professional knowledge in areas relevant to children enrolled in program May be required to attend evening meetings knowledge of Early Childhood Education, Child Development, required throughcompletion of a Master’s Degree in Special Education.* New York State Certification in Special Education required, Birth-2. * Minimum one (1) year early childhood related experience to plan individual education plans (IEP’s) to meet the special needs of each child preferred. Prior early childhood teaching experience with a special education preschool required.
