Blind Brook UFSD, located about 30 minutes north of Manhattan, seeks educators with a passion for learning, commitment to students, and dedication to working as a team with parents and staff. NYS certification in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) is required. We seek a successful candidate for an Elementary Teacher (Leave Replacement) who exhibits the following criteria: A passion for and deep commitment to supporting students’ intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development;Knowledge and understanding of student-centered pedagogical skills/strategies and NYS Next Generation Learning Standards; Deep knowledge in research-based best practices in teaching and learning;Experience with incorporating social-emotional learning practices into classroom instruction; Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and staff to engage students in problem-based learning activities using technology to enhance instruction; Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.Candidates should be proficient in project-based learning and differentiation of instruction.Ability to promote digital literacy, critical thinking, problem solving, and responsible decision-making skills that are necessary for student success;Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Proven track record of successful partnerships with families and faculty. Encourages family involvement in a student's education and ensures effective communication with students and families.We expect this Leave Replacement to commence as soon as possible for an indeterminate amount of time.
