QUALIFICATIONS:New York State certification as School District Leader/AdministratorKnowledge of State and Federal Laws and Regulations regarding the education of students with disabilitiesDemonstrated record of working collaboratively with administrators, staff, parents and communityUnderstanding of the continuum of special education services, including best practices in integrated co-teaching and special class programmingAt least two years’ experience as CSE/CSE Sub-Committee ChairpersonExperience in educating Students with Disabilities in an inclusive settingDUTIES:Assures district compliance with part 200 of Commissioner’s Regulations, which address the responsibilities, and operations of the Committee on Special EducationMaintains effective and appropriate practices and procedures for the CSE referrals, evaluations, data collection, meeting schedules, participant notification, and post meeting documents and reportsReviews and revises procedures, as necessary, in response to changing state mandatesChairs meetings of the Committee on Special Education and, if necessary, the Committee on Preschool Special EducationAssures that CSE/CPSE meetings occur with a legally constituted committee, with all required members present or appropriate waivers signedParticipates in recruitment and recommendation of the CSE/CPSE parent representativesAssures timely completion of mandated paperwork to fulfill CSE/CPSE process: IEP’s, Board of Education recommendations, STAC forms and other necessary documentation.Assures timely follow-up of CSE/CPSE recommendations regarding arrangements for additional assessments, acquisition of assistive technology, referral to related service providers, Transition Planning, etc.Assures communication of CSE recommendations and IEP’s (per Chapter 408 of the Laws of 2002) to appropriate building and Central Office personnel.Conducts program search process for students referred by the CSE for out-of- district placementsPrepares Annual Review schedules and oversees the Annual Review processSchedules and conducts Annual Review meetings for students in out of district placementsActs as consultant and resource to district staff on the needs of classified students, available programs, and federal, state and local regulations, policies and proceduresMaintains familiarity with “IEP Direct” special education student database and documentation system, and assures accuracy of clerical data entry and IEP productionIn conjunction with the Director of Pupil Personnel Services, collects and organizes data necessary for status reports on special education programs, services and student enrollmentsServes as a liaison to district and community/parent organizations to provide information regarding the CSE processParticipates in BOCES CSE Liaison meetings and other regional/state meetings pertinent to CSE and special education issuesAssures continuing professional development by attending and participating in appropriate conferences and workshops.Provides relevant information to the Director of Pupil Personnel Services relative to preparation of budgets and grantsParticipates in the observation of teachers and support staff as part of the administrative teamIn collaboration with the Director, performs annual evaluations of PPS support staffIn conjunction with the Director, maintains supervisory oversight of all instructional and support services for Students with DisabilitiesWith the Director plans and initiates appropriate instructional service delivery models, including staffing recommendations and budget implicationsAssumes other appropriate duties and responsibilities as may be requested by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services Experience in program supervision and development for students with intensive needsKnowledge of the Pre-K processes is a plusBlind Brook is committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of inclusion and connectedness.
