ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL EFFECTIVE: 2025-2026 School YearLOCATION: Plaza Elementary SchoolREPORTS TO: Building PrincipalWORK YEAR: 11-MonthRESPONSIBILITIES: This assistant principal position is visible, active, and involved in the daily operations of the school building. This individual works directly and collaboratively with the principal to facilitate instructional practices, ensure the physical plant is safe and secure, oversee student discipline and attendance management, and manage daily building operations. They are responsive to the needs of students and staff, remain highly visible, and engage in the school day. QUALIFICATIONS:A valid New York State School Building Leader Certificate or School Administrator Supervisor CertificateMinimum five years of teaching experienceOutstanding leadership qualitiesConduct classroom observations and provide targeted feedback to enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomesActively participate in and support school events, professional development workshops, and community outreach activities to foster stakeholder engagement and school cultureCritical thinking & problem-solving skillsDemonstrates comprehensive knowledge of elementary curriculum across all subject areas, with specialized expertise in the Science of Reading methodologyServe as a collaborative member of the school leadership and grade-level teamsExperienced in implementing Response to Intervention (RtI) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) processes, with expertise in designing and implementing Tier I and Tier II intervention strategiesSkilled in developing and utilizing higher-order questioning techniques to promote critical thinking and enhance student cognitive engagementBackground in special educationExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skillsConfidence, determination & self-starterCompassion & empathyAbility to uphold rules & regulations for all studentsWillingness to learn and grow professionallyOther building leadership tasks as assigned by the building principal and other supervising administrators
