Qualifications: Education:Completing a state-approved nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).Licensure and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in New York State. Experience:Minimum of two (2) years of professional nursing experience.At least one (1) year must be in a supervisory or leadership role. Responsibilities and Work Activities:Administrative & Supervisory Responsibilities Develop, oversee, and support district-wide nursing services. Supervise and schedule school nurses and health clerical staff. Lead recruitment, hiring, orientation, evaluation, and professional development of nursing staff. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health mandates. Prepare and submit required reports (e.g., Immunization Survey, BMI). Maintain and update district health manuals and procedures. Medical Oversight & Compliance Ensure all standing medical orders are reviewed and signed by the Chief School Physician annually. Ensure all emergency medications are current and aligned with standing orders. Maintain PAD status with NYS and all AED protocols, including daily equipment checks. Arrange for and oversee equipment calibrations per manufacturer guidelines. Maintain and manage all CPR equipment, including battery checks and sanitation. Conduct staff CPR recertification and Narcan/overdose training annually. Complete and file Naloxone reports as required. Conducted and led debriefings following any medical emergency. Student Health Services Review student health records and physicals, including UPK and sports participation. Analyze health office visit data and accident reports for trends and risks. Immunization Management Monitor immunization compliance district-wide and update exclusion documentation. Work closely with CCPHD, families, and physicians to obtain necessary vaccinations. Submit required NYS immunization reports and maintain student immunization records. Participate in quarterly meetings with local pediatricians and coordinate follow-up care as needed. Collaboration & Family Engagement? Act as liaison with school/personal physicians and health agencies.? Meet with counselors, social workers, and families to address student health needs.? Assist with home visits related to health or immunization issues.? Collaborate with social workers to facilitate medical tutoring and homebound instruction, including documentation, physician communication, and technology setup.? Attend and assist with all kindergarten registrations, providing medical intake and parent guidance. Professional Development & Training? Provide in-service training for school nurses and staff on key health topics (e.g., concussions, emergencies).? Lead district-wide health and safety professional development. Operational Support & Miscellaneous? Cover nurse absences and assign coverage for events/field trips.? Conduct regular building visits to monitor services.? Respond to in-school bus accidents, as necessary.? Monitor the Family ID system and approve sports health documentation.? Order and manage health office supplies.? Represent the district at community and interagency meetings. ? Technical/ Clinical Skills:In-depth knowledge of professional nursing practices, particularly in school and pediatric settings.Familiarity with public health laws, mandates, and programs relevant to school environments.Understanding of auxiliary support services for student health and wellness. Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience in a school health setting.Knowledge of the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and NYSED school health regulations.
