The Auburn Enlarged City School District is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Director of Education, Community Engagement, and Special Programming. Job DescriptionTitle: Director of Education, Community Engagement, and Special ProgrammingJob DescriptionTitle: Director of Education, Community Engagement, and Special ProgrammingQualifications: • Education:o Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.o Professional Teaching Certificateo Initial School Administrator and Supervisor Certificateor Permanent Certificate, or Professional Certificate (CTLE)o Experience facilitating professional development• Experience:o Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in education, including teaching, instructional coaching, or educational leadership roles.o Proven experience leading curriculum development and professional learning initiatives.o Demonstrated experience managing or contributing to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts.• Knowledge and Skills:o Deep understanding of curriculum design, instructional strategies, and educational best practices.o Strong knowledge of DEI principles and their application in educational settings.o Familiarity with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) frameworks and data-driven decision-making.o Experience engaging with community stakeholders and fostering educational partnerships.o Strong analytical skills for interpreting student performance data and identifying trends.o Ability to manage multiple programs and initiatives simultaneously.Preferred Qualifications• Experience in a district-wide leadership role or working across multiple schools.• Background in recruitment strategies and teacher retention programs.Soft Skills• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.• Effective collaboration and team-building abilities.• Strategic problem-solving and organizational skills.• Cultural competence and sensitivity.Salary: $85,000-$90,000 (commensurate with experience and in accordance with the Auburn Administrators Association contractPrimary Function:Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)• Facilitate the DEI Task Force to foster inclusive educational environments.• Monitor progress and evaluate outcomes of the district’s DEI Plan.• Lead initiatives for the My Brother’s Keeper program.• Design and deliver professional learning sessions focused on DEI practices.Community Engagement• Plan and execute events such as Community Luncheons or similar initiatives.• Oversee educational outreach programs, including Passport to History, Book Buddies, and Parent/Guardian University.• Act as the liaison between the district, schools, and external organizations to coordinate educational initiatives.Curriculum & Instruction• Lead the professional development and mentorship of instructional coaches.• Design and oversee the creation of curriculum frameworks, lesson plans, and instructional materials aligned with academic standards.• Ensure curricula meet the diverse needs of all learners, including students with special needs and English language learners.• Monitor educational trends and integrate best practices into instructional approaches.• Plan and facilitate professional development workshops to enhance instructional practices.• Collaborate on Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) initiatives.• Support the implementation of new educational programming.• Analyze student performance data to identify instructional and curriculum improvement opportunities.• Foster collaboration among educators to promote alignment and coherence across grade levels and subjects.Teacher Retention and Recruitment• Coordinate the Mentor & Mentee Program in partnership with the administrative team.• Develop strategic recruitment plans to attract and retain high-quality educators.Additional Responsibilities• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.Roles and Responsibilities:Write a brief history of the project, starting with the rationale or problem it set out to solve.Reporting Administrator:Immediate supervisor: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and InstructionCreated February 2025:
