Job Description:Arlington Central School District is seeking a student-centered principal to lead learning at Titusville Intermediate School, home to approximately 425 students and 65 faculty and staff. The successful candidate will possess the prerequisite knowledge of student development, the ability to effectively lead school improvement cycles, and manage professional learning community work. The District seeks a leader with the ability to provide meaningful feedback to teachers on practices that promote student agency and relevant classroom experiences for children. The successful candidate must possess the ability to work effectively as the member of a team and embrace whole child approaches to learning that ensure an inclusive and equitable learning environment for each child. Performance Responsibilities:Specific activities include, but are not limited to the following: Instructional LeadershipInitiate, design, and implement programs that meet the specific needs of all studentsCreate a master schedule of courses and teaching assignments within established guidelines to meet student needsAssist in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculumSupervise student support services to enhance individual student education and personal developmentDemonstrate a thorough understanding of data analysis protocols and effectively use data to communicate the strengths and areas of improvement for the instructional program PersonnelSupervise all professional, paraprofessional, administrative and non-professional personnel involved with the schoolProvide quality professional learning for staffOrient newly assigned staff members and assist in their professional growthEvaluate and counsel staff members regarding their individual and group performanceApply high professional standards to the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning and evaluating of personnel. AdministrationEstablish a school climate that fosters high standards for student conduct and self-disciplineWork with students, teachers, staff, parents, and administrators to develop and implement theDistrict’s Code of Conduct in accordance with the due process rights of studentsKeep the Superintendent and Central Office Administration informed of the school’s events, activities, and/or potential concernsPresent to the Board of Education at the request of the SuperintendentWork with various members of the Central Administrative Staff (e.g., Transportation, Human Resources, Curriculum and Instruction, PPS, etc.)Maintain responsibility for the overall supervision and administration of all student activity programs, including all extracurricular programs of the school in accordance with the policies and guidelines of the Arlington Central School DistrictSupervise the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and nonacademic purposesInterpret and enforce District policies and administrative regulationsConduct meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the schoolAssume responsibility for the physical and emotional safety of the school, including but not limited to the planning and supervision of all safety drills and an emergency preparedness programAttend and participate in District meetings and committeesRespond to written and oral requests for information in a timely mannerDelegate authority appropriatelyComplete State and Federal reports (as needed)Promote and develop the leadership capacities of staff in the buildingPrepare and administer the school’s budgetMaintain and control the various local funds generated by student activitiesSupervise the maintenance of all required building records and reports Professional LearningLead building-level professional learningEstablish clear and measurable performance goalsImplement all aspects of the Annual Professional Performance Review and supervise the evaluation process for all staff membersAssume responsibility for their own professional growth and development through membership and participation in the affairs of professional organizations; attendance at regional, state, and national meetings; and continuing educational activities Community RelationsEngage stakeholders including students, parents, faculty, and community members in a shared commitment to the goals and priorities of the DistrictMaintain active relationships with students and parents; seek to be a positive, visible, and accessible presenceAttend school sponsored activities and functionsEstablish and maintain relationships with local community groups and individuals in order to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programsUse proven data analysis protocol to communicate successes and challenges of the school community to stakeholdersPerform such duties in addition to those described above as may be assigned by the Superintendent or their designeeFor additional information, go to https://www.arlingtonschools.org/Page/298 and click on Current Vacancies.
