Job Description: The Instructional Coach is a ten-month elementary teacher with a strong literacy and instructional background who has the ability to work with other teachers to support best practices related to instruction across the content areas. Instructional Coaches will serve as an integral part of the larger Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment system in Arlington. Instructional Coaches will be provided with staff development on adult learning strategies and effective instructional strategies in order to turnkey train and support other teachers. They will facilitate in-building professional development opportunities for their colleagues across the core subject areas with a particular emphasis on the implementation of new curriculum resources. Instructional Coaches will also serve as a key resource in the school’s professional learning communities helping to facilitate conversations around curriculum, assessments and instructional strategies to address gaps in student learning. The instructional coach may provide direct instruction with students up to two teaching periods per day. The instructional coach will serve on the school’s building leadership team and meet regularly with Curriculum Directors. Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with teachers in and out of classrooms to facilitate the implementation of high-quality instructionDevelop and implement a coaching plan that supports teachers through modeling, co-teaching, and providing informal constructive feedback.Work with teachers to plan and implement lessons according to state standards and district curriculum.Analyze student data as part of the RTI/MTSS process and work with teachers to implement and assess effective interventions.Work with the leadership team throughout the school year to set goals for the building as a whole.Debrief with the Principal regularly to review progress towards building goalsAttend district coaching meetings to further the practice and share ideas for effective leadership.Facilitate and Participate in grade level PLC MeetingsSupport all teachers, novice and experienced, building collaborative relationshipsTeach up to two periods per day as a co-planner, co-teacher, and provider of feedback. This may include elbow coaching, co-teaching, modeling lessons, assisting with small group instruction, and administering assessments. Qualifications:Current NYS certification in Early Childhood B-2/Childhood Education 1-6 or Nursery, Kindergarten & Grades 1-6Experience leading professional learning sessions for staffExperience providing instructional coaching to teachers (preferred)Strong knowledge of NYS learning standards in ELA and MathematicsStrong knowledge of effective instructional practices to help meet the diverse needs of studentsExperience with RTI/MTSS tiered strategies of support Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Elementary OperationsFor additional information go to https://www.arlingtonschools.org/Page/298 and click on Current Vacancies.
