Our 6:1:1 classrooms offer a supportive environment with a low student-to-staff ratio to ensure individualized attention for each student.Position OverviewWe are seeking a passionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to lead our elementary 6:1:1 classroom. In this role, you will work with students who have significant learning, behavioral, and/or developmental needs. The 6:1:1 ratio represents 6 students, 1 teacher, and 1 teaching aide, creating an environment conducive to personalized learning and growth.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each studentCreate and deliver specialized instruction tailored to diverse learning needsAssess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordinglyCollaborate with a teaching assistant to maximize classroom effectivenessWork with related service providers (speech therapists, occupational therapists, etc.)Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progressImplement behavior management strategies and positive interventionsMaintain accurate records of student performance and behaviorParticipate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetingsAdapt curriculum materials to meet individual student needsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's preferred)Valid state certification in Special EducationExperience working with students with significant disabilitiesKnowledge of evidence-based instructional practices for students with special needsUnderstanding of behavior management techniques and positive behavior supportsFamiliarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipmentStrong collaborative and communication skillsPatience, empathy, and dedication to student successHow to ApplyPlease submit your resume, cover letter, teaching certification, and three professional references to [email address].
