Ardsley School District is seeking a Teaching Assistant at Ardsley Middle School to work in the 9:1:3 special class effective immediately.NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:The Teaching Assistant works under the general supervision of a certified teacher to support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development of students. This role involves providing one-on-one and small-group instructional support, preparing and organizing classroom materials, and assisting in classroom management. The Teaching Assistant also supervises students during transitions, lunch, and recess. In addition to instructional support, the Teaching Assistant helps monitor student progress, addresses behavior concerns, and performs clerical tasks such as grading, attendance tracking, and recordkeeping, contributing to a well-functioning and inclusive classroom environment.QUALIFICATIONS:Must hold a valid New York State Teaching Assistant certificate or classroom teaching certificateTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:10 month position - 4 year probationary periodPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:The Teaching Assistant will:Collaborate with the teacher to support lesson planning and preparationLead or assist with small-group work, remediation, and enrichmentProvide targeted support to students with special education or language needsSupervise during non-instructional times (recess, lunch, field trips)Assist with grading, data entry, classroom setup and cleanupHelp maintain a welcoming and affirming classroom environmentObserve students and provide feedback to teachers on academic or behavioral progressParticipate in IEP meetings, trainings, and professional development (whenever possible) Operate classroom technology and assist with instructional materials preparationEVALUATION:Performance will be evaluated annually by building administration.In addition to applying on OLAS, you must also apply on our website at www.ardsleyschools.org (click on Careers).
