The PK-12 Principal is entrusted with the responsibility of providing visionary leadership, fostering a positive learning environment, and ensuring the academic success and personal development of all students. This role requires a dynamic leader who can effectively collaborate with staff, engage parents and community stakeholders, and uphold the highest standards of educational excellence. Responsibilities: Leadership and Administration:Provide direction, support, and vision for the school in alignment with New York State Learning Standards, Multiple Pathways to Graduation, and the district’s Blueprint for Excellence Strategic Plan goals.Oversee the daily operations of the middle school, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.Foster a culture of continuous improvement through effective professional development, mentorship, and coaching for staff.Implement and enforce school policies and procedures to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.Demonstrate open, honest, and transparent communication with staff, students, families, and the community to foster trust and collaboration.Model integrity in all actions and decisions, maintaining high ethical standards and being accountable to the school community. Academic Excellence:Ensure the implementation of rigorous and coherent systems for curriculum, instruction, and assessments that align with New York State Learning Standards and promote student success.Monitor student progress and academic performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement targeted interventions.Support the integration of technology and innovative teaching practices to enhance student engagement and achievement.Collaborate with faculty and instructional leaders to develop and implement data-driven instructional strategies. Student Support and Development:Promote a positive school climate that celebrates individuality yet celebrates a sense of community.Implement programs and initiatives to support the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and support staff to provide comprehensive student services and SEL intervention programs.Encourage student involvement in extracurricular activities, clubs, and community service opportunities.Lead the implementation of an integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS-I) to address academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and attendance needs of all students.Use data-driven decision making to coordinate interventions across tiers and ensure timely support and equitable access to services for every learner.Build partnerships with community-based agencies and service providers to connect students and families with additional supports and resources beyond the school setting. Family and Community Engagement:Cultivate positive relationships with parents, caretakers, families, and community stakeholders through effective communication and outreach efforts.Facilitate opportunities for parental and community feedback related to educational initiatives.Collaborate with community organizations, businesses, and local government agencies to provide community service opportunities for students. Professional Development and Growth:Pursue ongoing professional learning opportunities to recognize and support best practices, research, and trends in education.Engage in self-reflection and seek feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve leadership effectiveness.Mentor and develop aspiring educational leaders within the school community. Qualifications:New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Leader (SDL) certification.Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience and at least 2 years of administrative experience preferred.Deep understanding of New York State education laws, regulations, and standards.Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.Committed to provide continuity in leadership to support long-range planning, program development, and school culture stability.
