Job Title: AMITYVILLE MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPALCertification: New York State SAS, SBL, or Administrator Certificate RequiredJob Summary: The High School Principal is a dynamic educational leader responsible for overseeing the academic, administrative, and operational functions of the school. This role is pivotal in creating a safe, inclusive, and challenging environment that fosters high academic achievement and personal growth for students. The Principal collaborates with district leadership, staff, students, and community stakeholders to implement strategic initiatives and uphold the school’s mission and values.Key Responsibilities:Instructional Leadership:Academic Excellence: Develop and implement instructional strategies that promote rigorous academic standards and support effective teaching and learning across all subject areas.Curriculum Oversight: Collaborate with faculty to design, evaluate, and refine curricula, ensuring alignment with state standards and best practices.Professional Development: Mentor and support teachers through ongoing professional development, performance evaluations, and instructional coaching.School Administration:Operational Management: Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, budgeting, facilities management, and resource allocation.Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to all district, state, and federal regulations and policies, maintaining high standards of safety and accountability.Strategic Planning: Lead the development and execution of long-term strategic plans to continuously improve school performance and student outcomes.Student Support & Discipline:Safe Learning Environment: Establish and enforce policies that ensure a secure and respectful school climate conducive to learning.Behavioral Management: Oversee the development and implementation of effective student discipline policies and intervention strategies.Support Services: Coordinate with counselors, support staff, and community partners to address the academic and emotional needs of students.Community Engagement & Stakeholder Relations:Partnership Building: Foster strong relationships with parents, community members, and local organizations to support student learning and well-being.Communication: Serve as the primary spokesperson for the school, maintaining transparent and consistent communication with all stakeholders.District Collaboration: Work closely with the district administration to align school initiatives with broader educational goals.Staff Leadership & Development:Team Building: Recruit, hire, and retain high-quality faculty and staff, promoting a collaborative and innovative school culture.Performance Management: Implement fair and comprehensive evaluation systems to assess staff performance and identify opportunities for professional growth.Culture of Excellence: Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, mutual respect, and shared accountability among all staff members.Qualifications:Certification: Valid New York SAS, SBL, or Administrator Certificate Required.Education: Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.Experience: Minimum of three years in educational leadership, preferably with experience as an assistant principal or in a comparable high school administrative role.Knowledge: In-depth understanding of New York State education laws, policies, and standards.Skills:Strong instructional leadership and curriculum development skills.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution abilities.Proven experience in budgeting, resource management, and strategic planning.Ability to analyze data to inform decision-making and drive school improvement initiatives.Working Conditions:Schedule: Full-time position with occasional evening and weekend commitments.Environment: Collaborative and fast-paced setting that requires adaptability, resilience, and a strong commitment to educational excellence.Application Process:Interested candidates are invited to submit a cover letter, résumé, and a statement of educational philosophy via www.olasjobs.org/ For specific inquiries regarding this position, please contact Dr. Stephen C.
