We are currently seeking an experienced Supervisor of Security and Facilities to be responsible for the overall safety, security and facility operations of Alternatives for Children as well as serve as a direct liaison between AFC and local response teams, SCPD and local Fire Departments. In this diversified role, you will be responsible for the daily operation and coordination of the maintenance, cleaning and security of all Center sites (4) in order to provide clean, safe, efficient, environmentally healthy and structurally sound locations that offer students and staff the best possible atmosphere for meaningful instruction and learning.Specifically:• Plan, prioritize, assign, and supervise the work of staff responsible for providing custodial, general maintenance and security to sites.• Evaluate and enforce the Center’s security program on a continuing basis and recommending changes or drafting plans• Ensure adequate staffing rotation and supervise performance of staff to provide security and general maintenance of Center facilities.• Inspect center buildings/grounds for proper utilization of custodial time, materials and equipment; verify proper custodial methods are followed and quality standards are maintained.• Maintain/update a comprehensive safety plan, emergency notification procedure and best practices for school safety and security.• Assist in determining needed equipment, materials and supplies for the Center’s custodial operations• Respond to emergency/security calls regarding vandalism, alarms, thefts etc; reports incidents to police and fire department• Oversee construction and maintenance projects; monitors contractor/ temporary staff work.• Oversee each School Buildings Safety Plan and works with each emergency response team at each site.• Assist center leaders in the planning and execution of center safety drills, including fire, lockdown, lockout and reunification.• Observe and evaluate potential threats to the safety of staff and students; conduct comprehensive safety and security assessments.• Assist in the development of emergency management and incident response systems including mitigation/prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.Requirements: Strong verbal and written communication skills; computer literacy essential. Minimum HS Diploma with 3-5 years’ experience in safety and security management. Experience as a Security/Police Officer required. 3- 5 years of experience in school facilities maintenance, general building construction, building maintenance or repair work, or construction management, one year of which must have involved the supervision of employees. Must be physically and mentally fit to respond to emergency situations, ie heavy lifting -up to 50 lbs, inclement weather etc. Ability to act professionally in stressful situations with a high degree of conflict management and resolution.Job Type: Full timeLocation: Based in our East Setauket location with travel to Aquebogue, Dix Hills, SouthamptonHours: Monday to FridayNYS Security Guard License preferred or a Police Officer.
