Since 1988 Alternatives for Children, a not-for-profit private school, has been at the forefront in providing educational experiences to a broad spectrum of children from across Long Island, offering special education programs for preschool children in both self-contained and integrated classrooms. We currently have a unique opportunity for a Payroll Specialist to process payroll for 350+ employees across 4 different locations in Suffolk County. The Payroll Specialist and will manage, direct, control and process AFC’s time and attendance, payroll by adhering to APA & DOL Best Practices and ensure compliance with NYS Cost Methodology.Maintain payroll information by designing a secure and accurate system to direct the collection and entering of data into payroll/timekeeping system.Maintain payroll guidelines and procedures by writing and updated policy & procedures manualsSupervise/Train Payroll AssistantsReview/import ADP pay date import file to process bi-weekly payrollCreate and implement ADP project timesheets for all employeesCode staff department cost center account and calculate department allocationManage departments and job titles in accordance with finance direction and CFR guidelinesMaintain & secure paperless electronic policy reports, including all tax documentsImplement reporting procedures for ACA compliancyPrepare all payroll reports, bi-weekly earnings, supplemental time, mileage reimbursement and change reportsCompile online reporting of 403b contributionsCreate/implement system for employee sick time usageCollege degree preferred. Minimum 5+ years payroll experience. Strong knowledge of ADP Payroll is essential. Excellent organizational and Communication skills.
