Alternatives for Children, a not-for-profit private school, is at the forefront in providing educational experiences to a broad spectrum of children from across Long Island, offering special education programs for preschool children in both integrated and self-contained settings. We currently seek a Technology Assistant who is a demonstrated team player. You will work on a broad range of activities that involves keeping the building Technology organized and working in a manner that is beneficial to Administration, Faculty, Staff and Students. The primary goal of the Technology Assistant is to be part of a community whose mission is to create an active learning environment, where technology provides a positive experience for all involved. Meeting these needs will require a mix of both strong technical and communication skills. Specifically, you will travel to four school locations in Suffolk County to:• Assist in setting up new technology initiatives under the direction of administration.• Assist in assorted IT projects ranging from wiring, hardware setup, software installations, configurations and deployments.• Support users with a diverse range of needs and abilities.• Support local and web-based information systems• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues with SMART Boards.• Troubleshoot system failures and identifying roadblocks in the network• Organize Technology Inventory between different storage spaces, buildings and classrooms. (involves physical labor of moving items, and keeping equipment areas adequately inventoried.• Setup technology and provide support in the event of a malfunction.• Check in daily with AFC Tech Support Ticketing system, and follow up with any tickets posted, resolving any that are not completed.• Be a friendly support presence in the building, walking around and checking in on classrooms, offices and any spaces where technology is being used.We require:• Minimum Associate Degree or certificate in IT, IS, Computer Science, or educational/instructional technology • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in an IT position, overseeing helpdesk, hardware, & network issues• Familiar with web related languages such as HTML, HTML5, Dreamweaver, etc. and applicants with valid certifications in Apple, Microsoft and/or other relevant domains are highly desired.• Must have an eagerness to learn and improve technical skills and be adaptable, flexible and able to multi-task. • Strong working knowledge of:o Windows Systemo Apple Systemso Active Directoryo Networking/ Server systemo Email deliver solutionso Hardware Installationso MS Office 365/ cloud protocolo G-suite Workplaceo Remote access/ tech supporto SMART Boardso Any other educational technology related programsExcellent Salary & Benefits!
