AFTON CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICTThe Afton Central School District (ACSD) has a proud heritage of providing a quality education in an environment of respect, creativity, and academic challenge. The district spans 86 square miles in southern Chenango County and currently serves students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. A single structure, which has grown over the years, houses the entire academic program. The district is located in the Susquehanna River Valley, halfway between Binghamton and Oneonta on Interstate 88. It is part of the Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES. While maintaining all the advantages of rural life, it is only a 45-minute drive to several institutions of higher education including SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Broome, Hartwick College, and Binghamton University. SPECIFICSThe Afton Central School District is seeking a strong candidate to serve as elementary principal with a child-centered orientation and a proven record of demonstrated instructional excellence as a teacher and/or administrator. A diverse skill set is required and should include experience in instructional leadership, teacher evaluation (APPR), Next Generation Learning Standards (NGLS), instructional technology, data driven instruction (DDI), 2013 Danielson Framework for Teaching Evaluation, special education (CSE), and personnel and student management. The principal also will support budget development and the supervision/evaluation of staff, curriculum and programs, and special education curriculum supervision for Grades K-5. Candidates must have exceptional organizational skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all school and community stakeholders. NYS Administrative Certification is required (SDA, SDL, SBL, SAS). Residency within the district is not required but is encouraged. Salary and Benefits: The District will offer a competitive salary and benefits package for the region consistent with candidate experience and the Afton Administrators’ Association CBA. The salary range will be at or around $90,000 - $97,500.
