The Nassau BOCES Department of Special Education seeks an experienced special education administrator with strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills. Candidate must be able to supervise, evaluate and communicate effectively with staff, students and parents to facilitate maximum student growth. Candidate must have experience in working with students with social/emotional, behavioral and learning needs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Work under the supervision of the principal and implement all school-wide and instructional duties, functions and day to day operations
2. Provide instructional leadership, supervision and direction to all teaching and related service staff
3. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards
4. Demonstrate a deep understanding of the use of data/technology to inform instruction
5. Conduct observations and evaluation of staff, while monitoring and maintaining “quality control” regarding instruction, curriculum maps, behavior protocols, and related services reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with Medicaid Regulations
6. Strong understanding of Federal & State Special Education laws, regulations and policies
7. Ensure that all goals, services, etc., mandated by the IEP, are appropriately implemented
8. Maintain effective communication with students, parents, colleagues and our district partners and community agencies
9. Provide staff development for teachers, teacher aides and related service staff
10. Bilingual Spanish speaking a plus
11. Carry out all other related duties assigned by the principal
SALARY: Commensurate with Administrator’s Contract
